Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of uptownfilmstudio.in and any voluntary contribution you make towards a Uptown Films production. By using this site or contributing, you agree to these terms.

1. About Uptown Films

Uptown Films is an independent film production house based in Karnataka, India. We produce original short films and series, and provide cinematography and post-production craft on outside productions.

2. Use of this site

You may browse, share, and link to this site freely. You agree not to attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a rate that materially burdens our infrastructure, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

3. Intellectual property

All film material, stills, copy, design, the Uptown Films wordmark, and the project identities (including Abishto, Sarangi craft credit, and Balli Nari) are the property of their respective rights-holders. The Uptown Films logo and produced-by-Uptown work are © Uptown Films. Sarangi (2025) is © Yedathorey Junction Films, used here with credit. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or modify any of this material without written permission.

4. Contributions toward productions

Contributions made through this site (whether via Razorpay, Fueladream, or any future processor) are:

• Voluntary financial support for the production of an independent film. They are not a purchase of a product or service.
• Not equity, securities, or a loan. Contributors do not acquire any ownership, profit-sharing, or governance rights in Uptown Films or its productions.
• Not guarantees of credit on the finished film unless explicitly defined as part of a perk tier you have selected at the time of contributing.
• Not tax-deductible unless we explicitly partner with a fiscal sponsor / 80G-registered organisation and identify that route at the time of contributing.

Where perk tiers are offered (for example, screening invitations, executive-producer credits, behind-the-scenes material), they are honoured as a matter of good faith on the timeline and in the form described at the time of contribution. Where production circumstances make a specific perk impractical, we will offer an equivalent alternative or a refund of that contribution.

5. No guarantee of production outcome

Independent film production carries inherent uncertainty. We will use reasonable best efforts to deliver each production we raise funds for, communicate progress regularly, and keep contributors informed if scope, schedule, or scale changes materially. We do not, and cannot, guarantee theatrical, streaming, or festival outcomes.

6. Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

7. Third-party services

This site embeds or links to third-party services including YouTube, Razorpay, Fueladream, Amazon Prime Video, and IMDb. Each is governed by its own terms; we do not control them and are not responsible for their availability or content.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Uptown Films is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of this site. Our total liability in connection with any contribution is limited to the amount of that contribution.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our productions and operations evolve. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Karnataka.
