Refund & Cancellation Policy

Voluntary contributions toward our productions are made with the understanding that funds are deployed promptly into pre-production, production, and post-production work. This policy explains when refunds may be requested and how we process them.

1. Cooling-off window

You may request a full refund of any contribution within seven (7) days of the contribution date, no questions asked. Email uptownfilmstudio@gmail.com from the address you used at the time of contributing, with subject line "Refund request — [your transaction reference]". We will process the refund through the original payment method (Razorpay or Fueladream) within seven (7) working days of receiving the request.

2. After the cooling-off window

Once funds have entered active deployment (typically after the seven-day window, and especially after a production milestone has begun), contributions are non-refundable as a matter of policy. Independent film budgets do not allow for late-stage clawbacks without compromising the production for everyone else.

That said, we will consider a refund request after the cooling-off window in the following circumstances:

  • The production is formally cancelled by Uptown Films before any of the promised perk has been delivered.
  • A specific perk you contributed for becomes impossible to deliver, and you decline an equivalent alternative.
  • A duplicate or fraudulent transaction is identified.

3. How to request a refund

Email us at uptownfilmstudio@gmail.com from the email address used at the time of contributing, with:

  • Subject line: "Refund request — [transaction reference]"
  • Date and approximate amount of the contribution.
  • Reason for the request.

We will acknowledge within two (2) working days and complete the review within seven (7) working days. Approved refunds are issued through the original payment method; bank-side processing may add a further three to seven working days.

4. Failed transactions

If your payment is debited but does not show as a successful contribution within 24 hours, do not attempt to contribute again. Email us with the transaction reference and a screenshot — we will reconcile with the payment processor and either confirm the contribution or trigger a refund within five (5) working days.

5. Chargebacks

Please contact us before initiating a chargeback or dispute through your bank or card network. Most refund requests are resolved much faster directly with us than through the chargeback channel. Chargebacks initiated without first contacting us may be contested where supported by our records.

6. Currency and fees

All contributions are processed in Indian Rupees (INR). Refunds are issued in INR to the original payment method. Any currency-conversion or processor fees deducted at the time of contribution will be refunded only to the extent the payment processor returns them to us.
